The national library board mother tongue reading club is a initiative designed to help youngsters pick up the habit to read regularly in their mother tongue languages
The National Library Board is hosting mother tongue storytelling sessions at local libraries to engage with junior readers.
There are various reading clubs taking place during 2016 – two in Tamil, one in Malay and one in Chinese.
Reading clubs
Book Rangers’ Club is a special session in Tamil. It will run only twice a year and parents will need to pre-register their children to take part. The programme is yet to be finalised but parents can keep a look out on the NLB website.
Little Avid Readers is a Chinese session which runs every 3rd Saturday of the month (next scheduled to run on 19th March). Parents are encouraged to register early for this session via email to Ming Wai.
Kelab Si Luncai, is a Malay session running every 3rd Friday of the month (next scheduled on 18th March) at the Playhouse in TRL (Tampines Regional Library), no registration is required for this session.

This reading club is part of National Library Board’s larger programme piloted and launched in 2015 to encourage children to pick up the habit to read regularly in their mother tongue languages from young.
In addition, an English storytelling session is taking place this Saturday, 20th February at the Everest Room in Woodlands Regional Library. No registration is required for this.
